The recent county honey show held at Kings Hill Nursery on Saturday 28th September was a resounding success. Enthusiastic beekeepers showcased their finest honey, wax products, and delicious bakes.
The open novice judging was once again both informative and enjoyable, providing valuable insights for newcomers and seasoned beekeepers alike. Participants appreciated the constructive feedback from judges, which helped to enhance their understanding of honey quality and production. The supportive atmosphere encouraged sharing tips and experiences, making it a highlight of the show.
The gift honey money will be donated to this year’s chosen charity by the Nuneaton Atherstone branch, the Mary Ann Evans Hospice. This generous contribution reflects our commitment to supporting local causes and making a positive impact in our community.
The branch composite display featured five bee-related items, with this year’s theme celebrating 200 years of Cadbury chocolate. Our creative members from the Nuneaton and Atherstone branch crafted stunning display containing a runny honey, set honey, wax bars, a pretty candle and some wax crafted chocolates that looked so real the judge even tried to take a bite!
It was a wonderful tribute to Britain’s favourite chocolate, showcasing two things close to our heart, the love of bees ….. and the love of chocolate!
A huge thank you to the judges and stewards who dedicated their time and expertise to this year’s county honey show.
If you missed this year’s county honey show, make sure to mark your calendar for next year. Whether you’re a seasoned beekeeper or just starting out, it’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your own honey, learn more about beekeeping, and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
