Beekeepers Working like a Superorganism
In the true spirit of the superorganism that beekeeping is all about, Warwick and Leamington Beekeepers headed by Queen ‘Marie Day’ and her entourage of workers and
drones organised and efficiently ran 2 weekend courses for introduction to beekeeping in March and April.
50 new beekeepers enjoyed learning from our experienced beekeepers. These are some of the comments received:
“Every stage before and during the course was well planned and organised”’
“Venue fantastic”
“Absolutely useful, enjoyable, and interesting. Loved every minute”.
Clive’s stories are always legendary and the temporal polyethism that underpins the colony was replicated by our speakers who brought their experience and diversity to the programme. This was manifested in the amount of work both in the depth and detail that was generously shared for the benefit of all.
We were treated with prize winning honey cake from Helen, Mary’s hive products, with Maggie and Val ably supporting behind the scenes. The practical sessions which were hugely popular and enabled the our beekeepers to share their knowledge and provide hands on experience.
New beekeepers experienced the ‘mysteries’ of the beekeeping craft, with all the different opinions that we all have on the subject.
The course reflects the underlying passion and enthusiasm for beekeeping that our branch so aptly demonstrates throughout its activities.
Thank you to everyone involved.
